Alpine Rock

Think of the longest rock climbs in the UK, double the length, add sunshine and a surounding of beautiful glaciated peaks and you've got Alpine Rock Climbing! If you are comfortable climbing Hard Severe rock routes at home you can climb long rock scrambles on high peaks, 500m face routes and super slabs on perfect granite.

Some routes require a glacier approach and you will be coached in basic glacier travel skills. However the emphasis is on climbing quality rock routes at a standard suitable to your abilities. Chamonix granite is famed for being some of the best rock in the world and there are routes of all grades accessible from the valley or from Alpine huts. For a warm up before the biger peaks we can travel to the Grimsel Pass in central Switzerland where the rock is even better! Or for somewhere different, how about The Ecrins or Bregaglia?

Routes that could be climbed include

  • Chapelle de la Glierre 400m IV+
  • Papillons Ridge on Aiguille du Peigne 480m V
  • Traverse of the Grepon D- IV 3482m
  • Dent du Geant AD 4013m
  • Aiguille Noir de Peuterey S Ridge 2500m of climbing up to V+
  • Aiguille du Moine S Ridge 600m IV+

You should have previous experience of climbing multi-pitch rock climbs at Hard Severe or Very Severe (VS) standard and be quite fit. No knowledge of glacier travel, ice axe and crampon use, is required as you will be trained in these skills if necessary.

Prices for a course based on the above programme and including half board accommodation in huts and in the valley for seven nights are below. Prices are per person and the only extras are lift fees and packed lunches.
