Icefall Climbing

Fat, frozen waterfalls, good weather and short walks in are the image of continental icefall climbing, and the reality is not far from this! France, Italy and Norway have endless pure water ice climbing accessible without too much effort. Easy angle ice good for beginners and coaching lead climbing, 500m vertical and overhanging testpieces and modern dry tooling routes, it's all there.

If you would like to learn all about ice climbing so you can go off and safely climb peaks on your own we can run an instructional course for you. If you'd like to climb the best routes and soak up the continental atmosphere we can guide you on the classic climbs. If you'd like some more adventure, pack your ski touring gear and we'll go exploring!.

The icefall season runs from mid December through to March. Gressoney in Italy is superb for introductory courses and lead climbing courses, Cogne in the Gran Paradiso in Italy is a beautiful place good for all grades and dry tooling and La Grave in France has longer, harder climbs to give you a challenge. For some adventure Norway offers untouched long climbs of all grades with nobody else around.

The prices below cover the guiding fees and seven nights half board accommodation. The table gives prices for 6 days of climbing but there is no restriction on the length of a course. The best ratio is one guide to one or two clients. Instructional courses are best with two clients with one guide. The prices are per person.
