Summer Alpine Mountaineering
Alpine mountaineering covers a huge range of possibilities from glacier treks such as the Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route, 4000m summits, scrambling ridges, rock climbs of all grades and lengths, ice climbs in couloirs and on north faces to classic ascents of peaks such as Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. What ever your previous experience, there is an objective for you.
Alpine Introductory Course. If you would like to learn about Alpine Mountaineering so you can go off and safely climb peaks on your own we can run an instructional course for you. Coaching on glacier travel and crevasse rescue, using the huts, coping with the altitude and climbing techniques for long Alpine routes.
Summer Haute Route. The classic high level route from Chamonix to Zermatt, a fantastic and historic journey through the best scenery in the Alps, giving the oportunity to climb some simple peaks along the way. This is a great introduction to all the Alps has to offer and gives an insight to many of the different areas.
Mont Blanc. At 4810m, Mont Blanc is the highest peak in the western Alps. Apart from having a magnetic attraction to all mountaineers this also means a successful attempt will always need to be preceded by a good programme of acclimatisation and training peaks. With success never guaranteed, reaching the summit is all the more rewarding.
Matterhorn. The most famous mountain in the world and almost the definition of alpinism, this is a committing climb on all of its routes requiring perfect conditions and excellent technique. Reaching the summit requires many things to come together but when they do it will be an experience to remember for ever.
North Faces. For experienced ice climbers and mountaineers, Alpine north faces have provided the climbs to put their skills to the test. North faces are the longest, steepest and iciest faces to climb and can offer the greatest and most rewarding challenges. Learn the techniques and experience the commitment required for these major objectives.
Alpine Rock. Think of the longest rock climbs in the UK, double the length, add sunshine and a surounding of beautiful glaciated peaks and you've got Alpine Rock Climbing! Long rock scrambles on high peaks, 500m face routes and super slabs on perfect granite are all there to be enjoyed at a standard that suits you..
