Glen Nevis Heritage Trail

Glen Nevis Heritage Trail

Discover the spectacular heritage and beauty of Glen Nevis on our Glen Nevis Heritage Trail guided walk. Starting from Lower Falls, our route will take us along the bank of the River Nevis as it tumbles down from the mountains, and on the way you will be enthralled by stories of deception, murder and revenge. As well as a savage history, Glen Nevis is also home to some incredible wildlife. We will pass through native woodland and remnants of the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest that once covered much of Scotland. If you keep your eyes peeled you might be lucky enough to spot dragonflies, dippers and maybe even a golden eagle. As we continue upstream the glen narrows and we will soon enter Steall gorge, with the river crashing over rocks far below. Through the other side we are rewarded with a view of the spectacular Steall Falls. Our return route takes us first down the quiet road on the opposite side of the river before rejoining the original path.

The Glen Nevis Heritage Trail is the perfect way to explore the stunning Highlands of Scotland without heading for the summits of the mountain giants we will be walking amongst. Our route stays down next to the river but it does cross rough ground so you should be comfortable walking on uneven surfaces and have a reasonable level of fitness.
