Sailing with Friends in
High Places

Approach the mountains from the sea. Return to the comfort of Provident.

A collaboration with Provident Sailing
On the 3rd July 2023 you can join us on board Provident, a 90ft 1924 Brixham Trawler. We will be sailing from Mallaig on a hill walking adventure amongst the remote peninsulas and islands of the west coast of Scotland. Climbing hills by day and sailing into the evening, we will make sure we get the most out of the land and the sea. Whatever the weather, we can promise you a great adventure!

This is an ideal trip if you...
  • are an experienced hill walker who wants a new challenge
  • are generally a solo walker who would like some company on the hill
  • are happy to have the support of a group leader - a professional mountain guide
  • are excited about being on a classic sailing ship - no experience necessary, just a willingness to have a go!
  • like the idea of approaching the mountains from the sea
  • have your own hill walking gear
  • are fit enough to spend a whole day on the hill - from a boat you always start at sea level!
  • like a bit of comfort and a decent meal at the end of a long day
  • like to celebrate a successful day with whisky and cake - not necessarily in that order...

The weather, winds and tides will dictate exactly what we do and where we go, but possible mountains include:
  • Sgurr na Ciche
  • Garbh Chioch Mor
  • Beinn Sgritheall
  • Meall Buidhe
  • Ladhar Bheinn
  • Luinne Bheinn
  • Askival and the Rum Cullin
  • Sgurr na Stri from Loch Coruisk
If you are interested in joining the trip please get in touch with Provident Sailing and book directly through them. They will take care of the booking process and make sure you are ready for your trip, and we will see you on board!
