Winter Guiding

WINTER GUIDING

"Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing"
Barry Finlay
Scottish winter walking, climbing, skiing and avalanche courses run from December to April. Abacus Mountain Guides provides all these courses on Ben Nevis, Glen Coe and all over the West Coast of Scotland. If you want to do some guided winter walking or learn the skills you need to explore the hills in winter on your own, our select group of instructors will guide you through new skills on real, adventurous and challenging routes.
Ben Nevis winter ascent
Walking up Ben Nevis in winter conditions is tough but also incredibly rewarding. Take the challenge and climb the UK's highest mountain with us this winter.

Winter skills courses
From the basic ropework for grade I and II routes to technique coaching so you can push your grade. We have something for every level of winter climber.
Winter Mountaineering guiding and instruction
Get off the pistes and start exploring Scotland's mountains on skis! Complete your first ski tour, ski some steep gullies or learn the ropework required to access the steeper lines.
Avalanche awareness
Good avalanche knowledge is essential for all winter hill walkers, climbers, and back country skiers and snowboarders. Learn safe decision making on an avalanche awareness course.
