Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership Award

LEVEL 2 MOUNTAIN BIKE LEADERSHIP AWARD

The Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership Award provides training and assessment in the technical and group management skills required by those who wish to lead groups on off road terrain. The Award is ideal for anyone with mountain biking experience, working in the outdoor sector or for personal development, and is the entry point for most aspirant mountain bike leaders.

Our courses are based in Fort William but if you would like a course elsewhere please get in touch. The prices below are for the course only. Meals and accommodation are not included.

Level 2 Training

If you are registered on the scheme and have all the pre-requirements you can attend a two day training course on:​
26th and 27th April 2021
​19th and 20th June 2021

The training courses are £220 per person for the two day course.

Level 2 Assessment

If you have attended a training course and have all the pre-requirements you can attend an assessment course on:​
30th April 2021
The assessment courses are £120 per person for the one day course.

Stages of the Scheme

Gain personal mountain biking experience
Register and be issued with a logbook
Attend a training course
Consolidate experience
Attend an assessment course
Continue to gain and record experience and any relevant additional training

Training Course Content

Planning and delivery of appropriate rides for your group
Leading techniques for effective group management
Map reading and navigation for a flowing journey
Management of accidents and emergency situations
Equipment set-up and trailside repairs
Core mountain bike techniques

Assessment Course Content

Assignment
​Written paper to be completed and submitted before attending the assessment.

Assessment
Practical assessment consisting of a full day mountain bike journey - usually 5 to 6 hours. This will be your opportunity to demonstrate your leadership and navigational skills, group management and knowledge of trailside repairs.
